Why Cumin is Top on my List
Cumin is the most popular spice in the world
Cumin comes from the Cuminum cyminum plant, a member of the parsley family, originating from West Asia and has warm, earthy, smoky aroma and taste, a great addition to many savoury dishes.
Cumin is full of health benefits:
- contains antioxidants and anticancer properties
- prevents heart disease
- helps blood control
- has an anti-inflammatory effect
- can support weight loss
Grinding up the seed helps you to absorb it or you can buy ground Cumin. Try toasting some Cumin seeds in a frying pan and adding to your dish or add some ground Cumin into a salad dressing. One dish I love to add Cumin to, is with smoked Tofu, adding some Cumin really brings out the smokiness in the flavour.
